Types of Documentary

Types of Documentary

Docu Drama

Here in this documentary its very interesting because of the facts they share and inform us about which is in this case Pompeii a very historical story and place to go. They talk about the events of what had happened but they use a film to show what it must of been like, the film was made to show how people in them days was living and how they where all wiped out by one volcano.

Docu Soap

Here in this docu soap, the dramas are real because the documentary is based on the people who live together and are disabled. There are a lot of storyline shown because of how they all know each other. There are voice overs that explain whats going to happen next or now.

 Infotainment

Here in this documentary is full of facts but told in a way of a story, the documentary is also in an another language, and the pace of shots moving around is different because when it gets to a bad or serious stage then the shots are moving fast pace but if it was something just calming then it would be slow paced.

Reality TV

Here in this reality tv show, is show quite professionally because of the lighting and sound presented to the views or audience. Some of what they do is purely set up for the view entertainment, but everything else with relationships and how they live is all real and real types of situation.

 Educational Television

Here is educational television, its not shown professionally  because its hand held and also the quality of the camera is bad, plus the sound is not very clear which is hard to hear, but overall for educational purposes it is quite useful to some.

Evaluation Of Final TV Advertisement

Evaluation Of Final TV Advertisement

Is Your Adverts fit for purpose I think that our chocolate advert is fit for purpose because it matches the brief very well which me and Gareth were targeting for, plus it has a different style and is more unique from most advert that we are usually shown on TV. The brief is basically to relaunch an old chocolate that is not aware to most people or is no longer popular, and re brand the chocolate by presenting it in a different style that can bring the chocolate back to life. It has to be targeted towards a completely new audience whilst making sure that it is still aimed towards a wide range of people including the original audience of the chocolate.  We had to carry out primary and secondary research looking into market research, as it helps us to find and pick what type of audience we want to target towards especially looking at the age range that our intended audience would be. The brief asks to make a 30 second advert that is aimed to a complete new audience which we have done, it also tells us that we have to make sure the idea for the chocolate advert is not coped right and does have any sort of explicit features in the advert that parents would not accept for there children to watch. Gareth and i have made an advert the has completely been targeted to a new audience and re brands the advert quite well in terms of it appealing to a new audience which have make sure to do and also by the new style and technique we used in the advert. The reason for using style and techniques is because it had to be branded more differently also targeted to a more sophisticated market which will make the advert stand out and making the chocolate come back to life.

Clarity of Communication Gareth and I had to pitch our idea through a power point presentation in-front of two of our teachers that was marking us on the overall pitch idea and skills used. The pitch presentation was hard to do because we was not allowed to have any form of text that is a full sentence, all we could use to help us is pictures or quotes which saved us from the horror that me and Gareth was dreading. The power point had facts and information to explain how the idea of our advert would work and how it would attract the audiences attention well enough for it to be actually interesting and unquie and not plain and boring.

Appropriateness to audience Compared with Original Intentions Our advert was first targeted to the elderly but then Gareth and I wanted add some unique features on the chocolate advert. So doing that would mean changing the target audience, we wanted to add humor and a memorable advert for everyone to talk about for many years. The target audience was changed to a young range of people which are 18 - 25 its also because of the age that most people eat a lot of chocolate. The costumes of the people who are in the advert so Gareth and Rohini, they wear clothing that 18 - 25 year olds would wear at a bar or pub. The props used in the advert is a bar and the chocolate itself, plus the types of shots used in the advert helps the humor which makes the advert more funny and engaging for the audience to watch.
Effectiveness of Techniques when filming the advert we made sure we used a wide range of shots so it wouldn't be interesting and engaging enough for the audience to enjoy. The type of shots we used is close up, long shots and mid shots. Also used panning tp show when Gareth and Rohini leaving the end of the advert in a different style because it keeps the audience engaged and interested throughout. The graphic we used was the on the imac which had the software that we could go on and create plus design how we want the graphics to be on our advert. We used a hash tag which we thought would be good because of the urban and young audience we are trying to target. The impact on the final product came out better than we expected, it has the right style of music suited perfectly to the advert, plus it had the perfect ending with a glass of wine and the Terry Chocolate orange.

Effectiveness of Content In the chocolate advert there is a part where Gareth has just got rejected and now he doesn't know what to do, then at 0:14 to 0:17 where i come in and hand Gareth the Chocolate which would make the audience find funny because now they are more interested in what he mit do next to try and pull a girl at the bar. The advert engages the audience very effectively because its something that relates to them in real life but with a funny and humors style that takes whats shown to the audience in the Terrys Chocolate Orange.

Impact of Work
In our advert, we had a particular message that we wanted the audience to see, the message would bring laughter and enjoyment because of the way the advert is been shown and presented. The advert helps gives the message away quite clearly which we wanted, the main concern was that we don't want the audience to get the wrong side of the message and to be taken the wrong way. Both newer and older can't because of the new complete idea that Gareth and I have come up with for the next Terrys chocolate Orange advert.

Technical Qualities The filming was successful and so was the editing, for the filming in the end it was successful by sorting any errors that we had and getting them out of the way so we can straight go on to the editing. Then with the editing that went very well in fact because we had no problem using it, and it was easy to use. We faced a few problems like using venues to filming our footage, but we solved that by searching a good pub/bar in chadwell that was quite close and easy to get to, but overall we had no problems at all.

Aesthetic Qualities The advert looked great overall because of the characters, the settings, costumes and the lighting, it had made the chocolate advert work in every way we wanted it to be, but with a few twists within the idea. The characters are well composed and done well to be focused when being filmed and the people are watching. The settings location was brilliant because the area was clear and the people around there were friendly. The costumes that the characters has to wear was good because it helps relate to the audience in general and also working together well.

Production log

week 1. 23/12/13

This week me and Gareth was planning our storyboard which is the shots of the advert that we are going to create and film over the 2 weeks christmas holidays. After planning the storyboard, i had to find a venue that would let us use a bar because of our idea which involves a location of a bar. I phone the Brickyard and told them that i would need to use the bar area for my media project which was to make the chocolate advert, after they had agreed that it would be ok to film at the bar. A few days had passed and the Brickyard had contact me through email and said that won't be able to filming there anymore because of the booking of people made for party. I told gareth the situation and tried to call other bars and we had called a pub down chadwell heath called the White Horse pub. They said that it would be ok for us to film at the bar. When it came to the day of the filming at the bar, my brother had toild me that we couldnt use his sports car that we wanted in our advert. He had told me that we might not be able to use the car but only if i move the filming date to a another day.

week 2. 06/01/14

This week me and Gareth have filmed our chocolate advert and have looked over our footage and realised that the lighting within the background and in the scene in general is too dark and doesn't look clear enough. After me and Gareth had decided that we need to re shoot the scenes at the white horse pub. We had to also ask Rohini to come and help us re shoot the chocolate advert. We called into the white Horse pub and ask them if we could use the bar which is the area just need to re shoot for improvement of lighting.
The white horse had after told us that it would be ok for us to come back and re shoot the the advert which wasn't long at all. After Gareth and I had finished and looked over our footage of the re shoot of the chocolate advert and it turned out really good because the sound was much better than before, also the lightening was much better as well.

week 3. 13/01/14

This week Gareth and I have started to edit the footage and we have to narrow down the footage to exactly 30 seconds of the chocolate advert. The advert will have music playing in the background, transitions and graphics which will make the chocolate advert look good. Plus I will be recording my own voice for the voice over which will be at the end of the advert. The voice over I will be doing is going to be the slogan which will go right at the end of the advert. This week Gareth and I have made the footage to 30 second on the dot, we have also put in the sound and setting it on the right level volume.

week 4. 20/01/14

This week is the last week where Gareth and I have to finish off editing the chocolate advert, Gareth was working on the graphic because he knew how to use the software better than me, as Gareth was doing that I was looking for the right type music that would suit the style and convention of the chocolate advert. I had also had to put on the voice over of the slogan which goes on the advert towards the end. After 2 lesson and another 2 lesson to go Gareth and I had finished and brushed up on the advert to make it look good and professional as possible.
